Staying in Shape (Or at least maintaining)
Anyhow, last week I started back at the gym for the first time since Rylee was born (approx. 5 weeks). I went Monday-Thursday and did both weights and cardio through out the 4 days. My sister-in-law came into town on Thursday and I didn't make it to the gym Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. So the easiest way out is to blame her. I also ate like a complete pig over the weekend and it showed this morning when I weighed myself at the gym. I usually tip the scale at any where between 170-172....this morning 178! Fack! Here is the thing about staying in shape. Once you let yourself go, it is that much harder to get back to where things were. Kind of like not cutting your grass for a month, or letting your puppy pee and poo in the house for a month, not keeping up makes it that much harder. Very similar to staying in shape. With that being said, I am really gonna try and shed off these 8 unwanted lbs in the next few weeks. Eating healthy and consistency at the gym is key. I'll keep ya posted on that issue.
Pokah:
Ehhhhhhhhhhh.
Leandra turned 30 today to. BAHAHHAAH. Bye bye 20's! Be sure to send her a text about getting old! I told her the important thing is to act like you are still 18, it works for me!

Its been a while
So this past Sunday hurricane Ike decided to venture north to Columbus and brought some serious wind. This wind caused our electricity to be out from Sunday night till Monday evening. Probably a total of 20+ hours without electricity. Though it doesn't seem that long, it felt like forever and also put the end to all our food in our refrigerator and freezer. Also, as most know Sunday is the single most BEST day of the week for poker. This became interesting last Sunday as I was playing about 5 tournaments when the electricity went poof. The good thing is that I was on my laptop and I still had the battery life of 2 hours left. This gave me time to explore whatever options I had after my 2 hours were up. After thinking about my options, there was really only one option and that was to use the power from the Cadillac (brag about having a Cadi) and sit in my garage and play there. So thats what I did. Unfortunately the outcomes of those tournaments basically sucked and may have been caused by frustration and the fact that it was about 110 degrees in my garage. For what its worth I also ate my dinner in my car while playing in the scorching hot garage. It was also pretty funny that we had booked a hotel Monday morning in Columbus after we found out that it could be up to 5 days with no power. Obviously Monday afternoon we packed everything up for us and the baby (which was like going on vacation for 2 weeks) and as we were loading the car the power came back on. Normally I would be like "WTF", but under these circumstances Leandra and I just chuckled and were happy as can be that we didn't have to go any where. Such adventurisms <--new word. Don't ever ever underestimate the importance of LIGHT!
As far as the pokah goes...well I recently finished up a interview with Cardplayer magazine. I did a 2 page interview with them that will be in the upcoming issue in October. They basically had me find 3-4 important hands from the Stars Million that I won and breakdown those hands in a q/a type format. It should be pretty cool to read when it comes out. Ill be sure to let everyone know the exact issue it'll be in. I feel pretty "Hollywoodlike" now. HAHA. I also did an interview for pocketfives.com podcast which will probably be out later this week or next week. That was fun as always. The last time I did a podcast with them was 2006. Man how time flys. I basically had no idea what questions they were going to ask, so I basically had to wing it off the top of my head. They asked questions about the Sunday Million win along with questions about the contraversial issue of multiaccounting in online poker (which is cheating). Id love to go more in depth about that issue, but I don't feel like writing 3 pages of rant. Anyhow I will post a link once that podcast comes out.
The Buckeyes........sigh......lets get back on track this week gentlemen. Tressel says Prior will be getting more snaps. THANKS JT...How about ALLL of the snaps. Whoop them boys from Troy!

Rylee's Arrival! ----7lbs 11 ounces, 19 inches---
What a beautiful experience this was. Wow! Anyhow, we got to the hospital around 11 a.m. Met with Amy (our RN) and started to answer about 70000 questions to get prepared with the schedule C section at 1 p.m. The entire process lasted about 2.5 hours, which in my mind seemed like 45 minutes (in Leandra's mind prolly about 4 weeks). Skipping a few minor details they took Leandra back around 12:45 to give her the epideral (spelling?) and came and got me around 12:55. I entered the surgery room all decked out in scrubs, hair cover hat thingy, and mask. There was Leandra laying on the table looking totally miserable and out of it with a drape that was hanging about neck high so she could not see a thing. Obviously she got numbed from feet to breasts for the C section. There was a seat next to Leandra's head for me to sit on, but F' that I wanted to watch everything I could, so I stood the entire time looking over the drape and holding Leandra's hand. A total of 7 doctors/nurses were in the room at the time. 2 on each side of Leandra at the surgery table, the anesthtetic guy (Thom, he was the coolest), and 2 more doing random jobs around the room. So as soon as I got there they began the cut and started the surgery. Let me tell you it was amazing. Nothing that I had ever expected and not to be cliche', but damn it was "Surrrrrreal". I geuss I always imagined them being much more gentle during surgery and never realized that "being gentle" just isn't an option during surgery. I also never anticipated seeing tissue on the inside of Leandra's body while she was totally coherent. Pretty weird, and I definitely understand why the Doctor asked me several times if I could stomach watching the entire surgery. She said many husbands choose to stay on the blind side of the curtain. I figured it like this, yeah its pretty crazy and kinda disturbing to watch them literally cut her wide open, but this is why Doctors go to school for 10 years. They are professionals so why wouldn't I trust them in what they do. I was told our Doctor was the best in the business, so I had no worries at all. All in all it took about 10-15 minutes from incision to the time they pulled out Rylee ass first. Once Rylee was out I stayed by her side for the next 10-15 minutes while they patched up and stapled Leandra's mid section back up (CrAzY). After a few tests and procedures I went with the nurse and Rylee to the nursery where they did more tests and also bathed her. As they continued to do more assessment on Rylee, I left and went back to make sure everything was cool with Leandra. After cleaning Leandra up they moved us to our recovery room where we will be staying for the next 3 days :( Hospitals suck balls IMHMFO). Anyhow it is about 9:18 pm, they just took Rylee to the nursery for the night so we can both catch up on some zzzzzz's. After tonight, I will not have her stay at the nursery anymore. It just doesn't sit well with Rylee not chillin with us. Sorry if this post isn't "English Class Presentable", I am pretty damn tired and have like 1830813 thoughts going through my head. All good thoughts of course, its been a pretty damn/Sweeeeet week in my life. Good Night for now. Here are some pics of the Princess along with the King and Queen.

Mccain and Technolgogy....Duhhh
McCain aides said that the senator's journey to the Internet will span five days and will take him to such far-flung sites as Amazon.com, eBay and Facebook.
With a press retinue watching, Sen. McCain logged onto the Internet at 9:00 AM Sunday, paying his first-ever visit ever to Mapquest.com.
"I can't get this [expletive] thing to work," Sen. McCain said as he struggled with his computer's mouse, causing his wife Cindy to prompt him to add that he was "just kidding."
Having pronounced his visit to Mapquest a success, Sen. McCain continued his tour by visiting Weather.com and Yahoo! Answers, where he inquired as to the difference between Sunnis and Shiites.
Sen. McCain said that he had embarked on his visit to the Internet to allay any fears that he is too out-of-touch to be president, adding that he plans to take additional steps to demonstrate that he is comfortable with today's technology: "In the days and weeks ahead, you will be seeing me rock out with my new Walkman."

Stan Gable anyone?

B-R-E-T-T BRETT BRETT BRETT
So my friends totally blew my phone up with text messages the day after Favre got traded to the Jets. Lets get something straight real quick. I root for the Jets, but by no means am I a die hard fan. There is a big difference. A die hard fan has trouble sleeping the night of a grueling loss, a standard fan loses no sleep. I lose no sleep when the Jets lose (unless maybe against the Patriots, but that stems more from Boston fans in general). I do however lose much sleep when Buckeye football, Buckeye basketball, or Yankee baseball lose heartbreaking games.8/02/2008
Suicide Sunday
Every Sunday morning poker players awake with a big smile on their face thinking that by the end of the day they will be one step closer to being retired. Unfortunately, (unless your dipthrong) 98% of the time Sundays end in frustration, disappointment, and suicidal thoughts :) . I'm gonna post every tournament I play on Sunday along with the results on where I finished. I'm hoping this may influence me to play my best the entire day and put up some sick results. Stay tuned.8/01/2008
Its been a while
I figured now is a great time to come out of retirement since I have a lot going on in my life right now. As most know, my wife and I are expecting a baby girl in exactly 11 days. The baby is breech and therefore we have a scheduled "c" section on the 13th. Let me tell you, Leandra has been much like a "well oiled machine" during her pregnancy. She has worked full time during the entire pregnancy and working up until August 6th, which is also our anniversary (Don't forget yours is on the 7th Phil). Im definitely proud of her for being so strong for the past 36 weeks and not getting overly hormonal. She has done a great job and I love her for it.
It took us a long time to finally find that exact name for her, but we finally agreed that we both liked the name Rylee. So thats the winner! The entire name picking process is pretty funny and enjoyable. It's crazy the people or even pets who you think of when going threw the never ending list of names.
Anyways I am very excited for the upcoming weeks and the new baby and hopefully I will stay true to this blog for a while. I have a lot to say since it's been over a year since I wrote. Plan on reading a lot about Rylee, poker, and random thoughts in the upcoming months.
One last thing...." election time is coming. Who you gonna vote for? If I was President, Id be elected on Friday, assassinated on Saturday, buried on Sunday, and go back to work on Monday." ----Wyclef Jean---- "If I was President"

Vote anyone but Mccain IMO.
Obama or Mr. Paul FTW

Enjoy Your Freedoms While They Last
Again I state, the Republicans sponsored the HR 4594 Bill which passed very simply in the House. Bill Frist was successful in sneaking this into the Safe Port Act without much time for anyone to realize what exactly the Bill included. A typical "scum bag" move in which most politicians are capable of. So basically, the Republican Party made it impossible to vote against. If any Democrats voted against it, they would be seen as people who wanted terrorists to kill your family and ruin our country. So what happens is the terrorists are in a WIN/WIN situation and get exactly what they want. They made our own people take away our own rights away!
Very well played Republican Party. I thought the Republican party was all for small government and individual rights? I geuss I am wrong. Maybe its because the Republican party has been taken over by religious fundamentalists who have lost their minds in recent years?! I mean how does the Republican party feel that online poker is immoral, yet online lottery and horse-racing gets an exemption? Fuckin Hypocrits! Get a clue you Bastards! The funny thing is poker is a game of skill that many of our greatest Presidents enjoyed and played for years.
Possible solutions:
1. Seperate Poker as a skilled game and not as a form of degenerate gambling such as: Sports betting, Table games such as BlackJack, roulette, craps, online slot machines and other casino games.
2. Have the major online sites open up their wallets and start lobbying. Eliminate all other forms of "gambling" on the major sites and become "Poker" only.
3. Setup Poker funding sites. Allow such company's to fund poker sites and keep strict records for Tax purposes.
4. Vote: Non-Republican at the polls.
One last thing, by no means do I feel that banning any gambling activities is correct. I feel people should be allowed to spend their money on whatever the fuck they want to. GFY Bill Frist! End of conversation.

Pictures From Bahamas

The beautiful Atlantis Resort. If only looks were everything!

Chris (aka MarvinGarden) getting his game face on.

Level 1 boredom setting in! Got to sport the bucks gear before the big game.

Christian, Leandra, and Chris having drinks in the lounge. The lounge was filled with laptops everyday. Internet connections from the rooms of the Atlantis were not exactly speedy, however in the lounge room the connection was much better.

From left, Roothlus, Zeejustin, and Brett Favre play some intense Magic. Most of these young guys were big Magic players before they started playing poker. It is almost scarey how intelligent these guys are when it comes to games and game theory.

From left: Imperium, Annette, Mkind, and BelowabOve in the lounge room doing what they do best! That's right.....Sucking Out! They are all top ranked players on the net.
Good Game From the Bahamas
As for the tournament, well.... not so good either. I was unfortunate to draw a table of a few well knowns. I was seated in seat 3. Next to me in seat 4 was Pokerstars representative Isabelle Mercier, in seat 5 was David Williams (second place finisher to Greg Raymer in 2004 Main Event), and in seat 8 was Tom Mcevoy (Won the Main Event in the late 80's I believe, and now writes poker books). Everyone in the tournament started with 20k in chips. The big starting stack led David Williams to play 90% of the pots. He played a crazy aggressive style in which it seemed as though he was ready to gamble every hand. The majority of my key hands were against him, unfortunately so was my very last hand of the tournament. Here was my exit hand.
Im on the big blind with 66. David Williams raises preflop to 700, I was the 3rd caller and 4th person to enter the flop.
Flop: 864 rainbow (bink)
I check obviously knowing David Williams will bet, which he does to 2k. Everyone folds down to me. I repop him to 7k. He instantly calls. I now have about 11.5k behind at this time, and David has a bit more, but not much.
Turn: 7
I know he doesnt have a 4 to make the straight, but it wasn't the greatest turn card for me. So I bet half of my remaining chips, 6k, leaving me 5-6k behind. This is a very unusual bet that I had made. Most people at this point would just shove their stack, but I had noticed that if I had given some sort of pot odds to David that he would not be able to fold. He showed this the entire tourney to this point. The guy simply could not fold a hand. I got my wish and he instantly called.
I now bet my last 6k in the dark. (Meaning I bet before the river card had even came)
River: 10
Williams instantly calls in a hurry and shows his straight. HAHA. He called me down with 89. Now many may ask, why didn't I shove after the turn. Believe me it would not have mattered. Williams was not getting away from his hand after the turn. The guy simply can not fold a hand like that as he had shown all day. Like they say "That is Poker".
Wowzers has it been a rough week it terms of sports. Let's see.....Jets lose to Pats, Buckeyes game was great for 15 seconds.....Florida looked unstoppable! Than to top it off Buckeyes Hoops lost yesterday in a key Big Ten battle. DOH!!!!!! Things could be worse :)
